Turtles

Turtles, which are from the Testudines order, are the oldest of all living reptiles.  They have undergone little change since their beginnings in the early Triassic period.

There are 21 species of turtles found in the state of North Carolina alone.  Some are rare and need to be protected, others can be found in the wild and at home as pets.
